High School in North Carolina Teach Money Management by Adding a Bank

Hillside High School in Durham, North Carolina began to take the money man by the hand by opening a bank and teaching students how to manage finances. The school offers finance classes to learn financial literacy, and they employ the students and also make them interns.

This is the first branch that the bank has opened at a high school, according to the bank’s senior vice president, Jessica Valentine. The initiative was supported and applauded by State Treasurer Janet Cowell, who stated, “I’m looking forward to traveling the state to emphasize the importance of building better money management life skills and saving practices that will benefit North Carolinians from early childhood through retirement.”

This is a great look for the students and hopefully they take full advantage of it all.

Emmy Nod for Beyonce?

It has been said that HBO is considering submitting Beyonce’s new visual album “Lemonade” for an Emmy! If she wins it would be a first for the Queen Bey. “Lemonade” which aired on Saturday was a smash among the Beyhive and is still buzzing across the internet.

via Variety

Whether Kahlil Joseph and Beyoncé herself, the credited directors of the piece, can be joined by “additional directors” Melina Matsoukas, Todd Tourso, Dikayl Rimmasch, Jonas Akerlund and Mark Romanek remains to be seen. HBO is in the midst of working out those details.

In 2015, the Emmy for outstanding variety special went to NBC’s “Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Special,” which edged out, among other nominees, “The Kennedy Center Honors” on CBS.

Meanwhile, “Lemonade” should be a shoo-in for consideration in the lighting design/lighting direction category, given the lush imagery from vignette to vignette. The frames conjured by the seven d.p.s credited on the film have drawn comparisons to the work of Terrence Malick, and the project does have one definitive connection to the reclusive director: Joseph shot behind-the-scenes footage for Malick’s 2013 film “To the Wonder.”

Go Beyzus! This is a good look!

Is Blac Chyna Rob’s BABYMAMA?!

My beautiful wife

A photo posted by ROBERT KARDASHIAN (@robkardashian) on

We’ve seen the shade of the century occur between the Kardashian/Jenner family and Tyga’s baby mama Blac Chyna all year long! However, today they seem to be on a united front as rumors swirl that Rob and Chyna may be expecting a bundle of joy! I don’t know about you, but I believe this may change the game for Rob and his family! We know how babies have a way of changing things, hopefully they will change for the better!

It’s reported that Kim and Rob tagged along to a lady doctor with Chyna, but hey we are only speculating! Seven to nine months will be the indicator of if this is actually a factual story! If so, I am happy for the couple! Chyna seems to make him happy, and I love to see him smile! I hope our congrats isn’t too premature!

RETURN OF THE GENTLEMAN

There are boys and then there are gentlemen. A gentleman is usually a pillar of the community, a source of wisdom and a classic man. These particular men are from the City of Plainfield and are all strong forces in their hometown. Lead by newly elected Board of Education member, Richard Wyatt. The goal of The GMC or the Gentlemen Making Changes is to take out the negative, while restoring the gentleman.

On November 14th, Mr. Wyatt and his friends called for the “Return of the Gentleman”. There was a strict dress code of formal suits and attire on men while they donated pieces to other men in need of these items.

As Richard and his friends, who range from police officers to basketball coaches, are showing our young men that it’s ok to be fly. It’s ok to be a working man, and even more ok to be a man of the community.

Much success to to everyone who is supporting this movement. It was awesome to see the young boys out in their suits and tie!

Congress and the Fight on Cannibus

It’s been a long, ongoing fight for Marijuana Legalization in the US. From the moment Richard Nixon created the DEA and scheduled Marijuana as a Schedule I drug, there have been nothing but bad things to come to users. Let’s face it marijuana is a medicine, and as much as some of us want to believe it isn’t, there’s proof. Recently, the war on marijuana has been winding down due to states decriminalizing and using it recreationally. States like Colorado, Oregon, and California have made it possible to purchase marijuana in a store. However, Congress had not decriminalized weed. It is still illegal, under federal law, to possess weed.

Now lets think, if we decriminalize weed in this country that would lead to an enormous amount of change. For one, there will be a lot of offenders released from prison for their nonviolent drug crime. If it is no longer a crime to possess, sell, or purchases marijuana jails would be emptying left and right. Congress would also have to admit that marijuana is actually a drug that can be used medicinally. We’ve already had laws pass that protect the use and prescribing of marijuana in medicinal states like New Jersey [woot woot], New York, and DC. Yes y’all, I know DC isn’t a state nevertheless, medical marijuana is legal there too.

I believe this will be able to change the climate in the war on drugs. Leave your thought and comments here. Check out an article here on marijuana http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2015/07/dea-marijuana-120674_Page3.html#.VbuctEIyM5c

Drake Releases Back to Back Freestyle: Cover Art Is EVERYTHING!

Fresh off the constant tweets of Meek Mill, Drake releases his second diss track called Back to Back! This is a follow up to Charged Up he released just four days ago. He also reminds Meek that he “hasn’t done anything about the other one”! This is in regards to Meek not responding with a  track. I have to say I’m happy Drake is keeping it on wax. We haven’t had a great rap beef since Ray J and Fab lol .

 So the score is

Drake: 2 Diss Tracks

Meek Mill: 200 Tweets

I’m a fan of Drake and Meek, but I have to admit the diss records that came out prior to now like Hit em up, Ether, Takeover, and classic The Bridge is over are way better lyrically. With the score being what it is, we have to see what Meek will do. Remember Ether came out two months post Takeover. A little fun fact about Drakes Cover Art. Picture is Toronto Blue Jay Joe Carter hitting a walk off home run to win the ’93 World series over the Philadelphia Phillies.

Drake was that a read?! Lol Meek your up!

Rihanna Blocked From Benefit Concert In Baltimore

During a time of racial tension in the United States, a celebrity wanting to do a free benefit concert would be praised. However, that is not the case with Rihanna who was blocked by the City of Baltimore for attempting to do so. In light of the Freddie Gray incident Rihanna chose that city to give back to because the disparaging times called for hope and change. She also wanted to protest peacefully in the streets with the residents that she hoped to inspire in some way. It would give the city a sense of “someone cares for me”, but in the absence of a permit she was unable to do so.

The City of Baltimore, however, gave Prince the opportunity to do a benefit concert which turned out great. Baltimore is filled with young people that could have related to Rihanna, and for one day, could have had peace in their city.

#MCM E Solo sings Just Gotta Make It

The first time I saw this cutie come across my newsfeed, I was like he is sooooo silly! He was recorded in the subway with a few friends singing an original called “Suck My D!#$”. He fancies himself a dancer, one who has gotten the art of breakdance down to a science! He is showing that he can actually explore other career paths in entertainment. My #MCM today is a handsome,              dancer that happens to sing E Solo! Here singing Trey Songz first joint, Just Gotta Make It.

Styles P Talks About His Daughter’s Death

Suicide is a real thing! Many believe, that it doesn’t affect the black community. It’s so taboo, that its rarely spoken about. More recently we’ve had suicide as a back drop in the black community when stars like Don Cornelius, Lee Thompson Young, the incomparable Chris Lighty, and the creator of For Black Girls blog Karyn Washington. More recently, Lox alumni Styles P open up about his daughter’s suicide. If you or someone you know is struggling with depression or suicidal thoughts, please do not hesitate to call National Suicide Prevention Hotline 1-800-273-8255. We are sending our prayers and condolences as Styles P and family get through this time of grief.

I rarely speak on my personal issues and i usually express my pain the through music but today I will share a little with you last month my wife and I lost a daughter and my son lost a sister . My baby girl took her life and there are no words to describe the day to day pain we have to endure and maintain through but in dealing with pain you find yourself dealing with the creator and asking questions and going through emotions most would not understand. So I’m taking this time out to express a few things to y’all because life is short and we are not promised tomorrow. I like to deal with simple math I know I am 180- 180+ but im trying my best to live on the positive side of things . I have truly tried to live up to the code of being a gentleman and gangster to fullest of my ability. I have been chasing the dollar bill since I was 12 years old I hustled I worked legal jobs and even manage to make my dream of making it as a rapper come true I have popped bottles before it was the thing to do , I have owned beamers, benzos , rovers, trucks etc etc etc I have lived in the ritz ,owned condos , houses traveled a lot of places etc etc etc but I can honestly tell you don’t none of that shit add up or equal to love!! I have lost my brother , father , aunt , grandmother in law and too many good friends/ brothers and now my daughter!!!! But the only thing that can be done is to leave it in the creators hands . But I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t take this time out to say from the most humbled part of my heart and soul to say to yall that the dream most of us chase is not !!I repeat is not !!more valuable than the love you get from your family and friends it may seem like it is but it ain’t they print money and make material shit everyday but once you used a love one that’s it the spirit is with you but you will miss the physical and Won’t be able to speak to them how you want to until you get home to the other side. So I just want to tell yall keep it family 1st and don’t get lost and lose your focus the fam is way more important than anything else …. We lost a daughter but gained an angel . Love is love ..ghost
